Founded in the aftermath of apartheid, Abalindi Welfare Society has been a beacon of hope for the community of Amatikwe Village, Durban, for over four decades. Born out of a desire to provide shelter and care to those affected by poverty and violence, our organization has grown into a thriving hub of support and empowerment. Today, we provide a safe haven for vulnerable children and elderly, and offer a range of services and initiatives that promote education, skills development, and sustainable livelihoods. Guided by Christian values and compassion, we remain committed to transforming lives and building a brighter future for our community.

Our Services

Based in the semi-rural community of Amatikwe, Inanda, north of Durban, we have been serving our community for over four decades. Our journey began with providing shelter to the homeless and has since grown to include a range of services and initiatives that cater to the needs of the elderly, children, and the broader community.

Abalindi Old Age Home:
Providing a safe and loving environment for elderly persons aged 60 and above.

Abalindi Children's Home:
A haven for 40 children who have been legally placed in our care through the children's court.

Thokozani Creche and Preschool: Educating and nurturing young minds from our children's home and the surrounding community.

Under the visionary leadership of our Director, Pastor Bhekisisa Sibisi, Abalindi Welfare Society continues to thrive and expand its services, driven by his passion for serving the most vulnerable members of our community and his commitment to upholding the values of compassion, integrity, and excellence.

Board Chairman

Our Board Chairman, Bheki Myeza, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Abalindi Welfare Society, providing strategic guidance and oversight that helps us stay true to our mission and values while navigating the complexities of serving our community.

Financial Accountant

Gugu Mbatha, our Financial Accountant, plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity and sustainability of Abalindi Welfare Society, bringing her expertise and attention to detail to manage our resources and finances with transparency and accountability.

Office Administrator

Lethokuhle Gabela, our Office Administrator, is the heartbeat of our organization, providing administrative support and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our office, while also serving as a warm and welcoming first point of contact for our visitors and stakeholders.

Fundraiser

Thanda Khuboni, our dedicated Fundraiser, works tirelessly to secure the resources and funding needed to support our programs and services, building relationships with donors and partners who share our passion for transforming lives and empowering our community

Bongiwe Zulu is the efficient and organized Secretary of Abalindi Welfare Society, providing administrative support to the entire organization. With a warm and friendly demeanor, Bongiwe is often the first point of contact for visitors, donors, and partners.
